Bright Futures Requirements

Can you believe that your senior year is here?
There is much to celebrate, but also much to do to ensure that you have a wonderful senior year AND are ready for life after high school!
It is important for students to be prepared for jobs of the future. Consider:
  • 2 out of 3 new jobs will require education beyond high school by 2025, according to the Florida Department of Economic Opportunity
  • 50% of jobs are at risk of being eliminated due to automation over the next couple of decades  (McKinsey Global Institute)
  • 99% of the new jobs created since the last recession all require education beyond high school (Georgetown University)
Be sure to visit the College Resources and Career Resources sections of this website, as both have links to many helpful resources.
Testing Resources:
Depending on what you want to do after high school, you may need to take a standardized test such as the SAT, ACT, PERT or ASVAB.
Most universities will require either an SAT or ACT score.  Some do not require either, but a good score can make you a stronger applicant.
To take college classes at a Florida state college (such as Seminole State), you will need to take the PERT if you do not have a qualifying SAT or ACT score.
If you are interested in joining the military after high school, you will need to take the ASVAB. The Armed Services Vocational Aptitude Battery (ASVAB) is a test that measures developed abilities and helps predict future academic and occupational success in the military.
Financial Aid Resources:
Education after high school can be expensive, so it's important to pursue scholarship and financial aid opportunities.
